As partners in the Truck bodies group, VFS share designs and manufacture with Scattolini SpA in Italy and Cabreta in France. Scattolini is the leading European manufacturer of Truck Bodies and Equipment, manufacturing Tipper and Dropside bodies for most Light Commercial Vehicles up to 5.0t, partnering the majority of European OEM’s with satellite plants in four European counties and one non-European.
For OEM partners, VFS have a proven track record in providing niche and mainstream multi-stage builds. As an ISO/TS 16949 Quality accredited supplier, VFS are the only UK supplier complying with the automotive industry QS9000 quality standard for tier 1 suppliers.
The use of innovative materials and advanced robotic manufacturing technologies together with constant research, development and testing ensures a very high quality product at a competitive price.
Scattolini produce more than 200 bodies daily at its primary manufacturing facility in Valeggio sul Mincio (close to Verona/Lake Garda). Customer service is paramount, therefore 22 ‘Scattolini points’ throughout the European Union have been established to provide aftermarket and after sales support, in addition to four assembly facilities in Eastleigh UK (VFS), Berlin Germany (Scattolini FBT), Batilly France (Scattolini France), and Avila Spain (Scattolini Iberica).
Type Approval
VFS implement a policy of obtaining European Approval where possible as opposed to National, ensuring volume limits imposed by the National scheme are avoided. For low volume bespoke vehicles not covered by European or National approvals, Individual Vehicle Approval’s (IVA) are performed at a local VOSA facility.
All VFS models including any optional equipment fitted in scope of WVTA, are certified to 2007/46/EC – the framework directive for Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) - implemented into law by all member states.
From April 28th 2013 all N1 commercials up to 3.5t are required to comply with the directive, from October 2014 all N2/N3 commercials will also require compliance.
Therefore each vehicle has a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) issued enabling the registration of the multi-stage build vehicle with its new Type Approval number, including essential details required at the point of registration by the DVLA via on-line AFRL - Automated First Registration and Licensing, now used by all dealerships.
